YOU ARE A DEAD GUY’S SECOND FAMILY IN 18th CENTURY ENGLAND. Your mission is to get one of your sisters to marry well, since you’re all women and can’t live without the favor of a man. You have no rights other than the right to marry and be a mother. In this game, you’ll explore the terrible vicissitudes of British bucolic countryside life and deal with neighbours and city people coming to visit the various families in the area, where gossip and marriage (and love, in the best of cases) are the order of the day.

A personal comment on expectations on historical context and how this game should be played: though I wish most of Jane Austen’s female characters had eloped with another woman, heterosexuality was a social mandate for the purposes of reproduction and the perpetuation of economic power. This doesn’t mean you can’t play this game in a way that challenges compulsory heterosexuality , but I firmly believe that juggling the intricacies of your desires and what is expected from you is the essence of the game.

SON LAS HIJAS DEL SEGUNDO MATRIMONIO DE UN SEÑOR MUERTO. Su misión es hacer que una de tus hermanas se case bien, ya que todas ustedes son mujeres y no pueden vivir sin el favor de un hombre. No tienen más derechos que casarse y ser madres. En este juego, van a explorar las terribles vicisitudes de la vida bucólica de la campiña británica y lidiar con les vecines del campo y de la gente de la ciudad que viene a visitar a las varias familias de la zona, donde el chisme y el matrimonio (y el amor en el mejor de los casos) están a la orden del día.

Un comentario personal sobre las expectativas en el context histórico y como este juego debe ser jugado:  aunque yo desee que la mayoría de los personas femeninos de Jane Austen se fuguen ocn otra mujer, la heterosexualidad era un mandato social para el propósito de reproducción y la perpretración del poder económico. Esto no significa que no puedan jugar el juego de una forma que desafíe la heterosexualidad obligatoria, pero creo que hacer malabares con las complicaciones de sus deseos y lo que se espera de ustedes es la esencia del juego.
